Tribute to Bill Winsted August 1

Gentle Readers,

Sometimes we receive news when we are overseas that is very difficult to hear at such a distance.  This is an especially difficult morning for Scott, as he just heard of the passing of one of the stellar members of his Humanities Division at Madisonville.  I'd like to dedicate this entry to Bill Winsted, beloved history professor at Madisonville.  I met Bill once, at a Critical Thinking Seminar.  He was the epitome of a gentleman and a scholar.  Students signed up for anything and everything he would teach, knowing they were in for a most memorable experience.  He always wore a suit to classes, knew his history inside and out, and managed to always stay current in his knowledge.  One hundred twenty-two students who have signed up for his classes this fall will be incredibly disappointed.

Thank you, Bill, for your model of integrity and scholarship at the very highest level.  You will be very missed...

Namaste,
Marianne/  Bai Ling
