Janya's Speech: Closing Ceremony in Guiyang

Gentle Reader,

Part of the Closing Ceremonies was having one representative from each of the four classes speak on behalf of the group.  Janya spoke on behalf of our class of middle school teachers.  Janya's spoken English is quite good, and her receptive English is excellent.  She was a bold and daring participant in class, always willing to take risks.  She was also very encouraging of others, reminding me a bit of my old student Anthony who used to say, "Don't be shy!" to everyone in class.

What follows is a copy of Janya's speech.  Heart-warming and wonderfully generous...  She is the same age as Alicia, my oldest daughter, and she was always telling me I was like a mother to her.

   Closing Speech
                    by Janya

Good morning, respactable foreign teachers and all other teachers, I’m Janya, today it’s my honor to be here to speak at this closing ceremony of this Englishi training. On behalf of all teachers in my class and my own behalf, we are most appreciative of our repectable, active, creative , warm-hearted and kind foreign teacher Marianne. Also let’s express our spiritual respect and appreciation to our hardworking foreign teachers by clapping your hands warmly.
     Thank you for your cultivation.
Thank you for your patient teaching and generous devotion.
How time flies! When we are still enjoying in the great joy of harvest, one-month training has lowered the curtain. It is such an exciting and helpful thing that nobody is willing to leave. But all good things must come to an end. A seperation is for a better reunion. So we will color our future more brighter with the knowledge we learnt and with the best wishes you gave us.
Learning is a poem of happiness. During this time, we strongly felt that we had a nice, happy summer vacation; we deeply felt that we were surrounded with knowledge, we also intensely felt that we dropped into love and happiness. We had fun performing the plays, we travelled in the world of poetry, enjoying the beautiful melody and rhythm. And we enjoyed the joy of singing and dancing.
Who shows us a good teacher?
Who encourages us to innovate bravely?
Who makes our classroom be full of laughter?
Who creates the atmosphere of Chrismas Day?
Who lets us taste the delicious food?
Who shows us the flavor and scenery spots in Michigan?
Who writes so many poetry for us?
Who always treat us sincerely and sometimes is moved by our action?
Just you. Our dear teacher, Marianne. We can’t say nothing now, only gratitude in our heart. Thanks so much.
We also show our gratitude to our monitor Lisa, you are supportive and so careful, you always take care of us everyday. Thank you very much. Meanwhile, I also would like to say”thank you” to my classmates, because of you, I have so many new friends, because of you, we create an excellent classs with Marianne.
Parting from someone is a song of sadness. Today we’ll wave our hands to say goodbye, maybe we can’t meet with each other, but you will be kept in our hearts forever. we will remember your smile, your words, your songs and dances, your poetry, especially your kindness,. I’m sure that we will recall of you with a glorious smile. And more time we are missing you. Today all of words can not express our gratitude, we just hope that everything goes well and you live a happy life everyday.
Dear Marianne, you are our teacher, but you are more like a friend and a mother for us. We all love you very much. Of course you also love us. Thank you for your love. We ensure you that we will be better. We will miss you.
Dear Marianne, welcome to China next time,we are looking forword to your coming. See you next time!
   Best wishes for you!
If one day you are in deep thought, that must be miss from us.
If one day you smile suddenly, that must be that we are rememorizing happy time you gave us.
If one day your tears full of your eyes, that must be love from you and us.
Goodbye! Dear Marianne. Please be careful!
Goodbye, my best friends, best teacher.
                My dear mother.
